Home Recording Studio Put To Work.

Home Recording Studio Put To Work.
The Oompah Roundabout are back in their home recording studio working on two new songs!
Wanting to increase their output speed and get not only their back log material recorded, but also new songs that they write out as well.
The boys have also been busy doing some work to the live room of their home recording studio (gap central recording studio) in an effort to add more "reflection" to the sound the room produces.
Also the live room has been reorganised to create a bigger drum area for Windy Wobble, and giving the boys easier access for mic placement, as the boys love old school recording using accoustic drums and real instruments.
The Oompah Roundabout are 100% indie and have their own label (gonad records) for the release of their material.
They also produce their own film clips and call their production company Halfanacker films, named after an indoor cricket accident that Hormone Howe had some years ago.
( Nacker is "Australian slang" for Testical )
( Gonad is "English and Australian" slang, also for Testical )
The Oompah Roundabout currently have 3 singles out.
All 3 singles are available for download at all download sites including,

More Pics Of My Studio ! ( Gap Central Recording Studio ! )

All these pics are of my live room. It is a small room but still very functional! At 4.400m long by 2.750m wide by 2.200m high! I've had 3 people jamming in there being Guitar, Bass and Drums! I think at a squeeze i could fit in another Guitar player and a skinny key's player! haha. The Drum Booth Sound Panel's  cut the volume to the Drums nicely for others in the room. They are movable and if needed, can be removed all together! The product on the walls is called accoustisorb and is made here in West Australia! It makes the room too dead so I'm in the middle of rectifying that. cutting the noise too the outside world  was the most important thing too start with. I'll be going in to more detail with what i actually used in the walls and on them in my forth coming video Doco I'm planing for my u-tube channel. At the moment iv'e been working on getting my mic drum sound together with success! Getting a cracker of a Kick sound!! And cool overall drum sound.

Gretsch Catalina Club Drums

Hi to everyone!!!! A few pics of my Gretsch Catalina club drum kit! It's a nice sounding kit. My studio live room is small so this small kit is a perfect choice. in front of the bass drum and to each side i have 3 movable acoustic panel's. If recording other instruments at the same time as the drums this keeps spill onto the drum mics nice and low. In fact i was shocked at how successful this is!!! it's also great for rehearsing as it helps keep the drum volume down! I made all my panel's by framing with pine (wood) insulation Bat's. I then covered the whole lot with old sheets. For legs i used bookcase brackets. I'll show pics of the panel's latter. As you can see the kit sits on a carpet rug (Ikea) and that's on top of a small drum riser! The riser does 2 jobs! It helps cut down any low end vibration from the drums and also gave me somewhere to run the mic cables and mic snake from the control room! I also covered insulation Bat's in material and screwed them too the ceiling! This creates a cool little drum booth! more pics and a video to come. :)  http://www.theoompahroundabout.com/

Ringo Starr And His All Star Band!!!!

Another clip from Ringo Starr And His All Star Band! This is also from the Perth (west Australia) concert! It was a great concert! The atmosphere was fun and Grrrrrrrrroovy! The sound was punchy and loud but nice too the ear, (from where i was seated! Ha, standing!) And the band were tight with a fun stage presence. The musicianship was top shelf, no wounder with Ringo Starr (THE BEATLES) and Gregg Bissonette on the Drums, Steve Lukather (TOTO) and Todd Rundgren on Guitars, Richard Paige (MR MISTER) on Bass, Gregg Rolie (SANTANA / JOURNEY) on Keys, And Mark Rivera (PAUL McCARTNEY / JOHN LENNON, PETER GABRIEL,ELTON JOHN  ect) playing sax and also keys! I was amazed at how fit Ringo is! At 73yrs of age and with the fun times he had in his Fab Four days and after, He looked as fit as ever and genuinely seems to love what he does! Pleeeeeeease come back soon Ringo!  :)
